Shared ownership

Shared ownership is an affordable home ownership scheme. It makes it easier for first-time buyers and those already on the property ladder to find their new home.

With the scheme, instead of buying your home outright, you buy a share – usually between 25 to 75% – and then pay subsided rent on the rest. You also have the option to buy more shares in the future until you own your home outright, if you want to.

It’s a straight-forward process applying for a home through shared ownership and our knowledgeable team will be there to support, advise and answer any questions along the way.

  1. We’ll do an initial assessment to make sure you’re eligible for the home you’re interested in.
  2. We then make a viewing for you – we can come along if you’d like your property expert with you.
  3. You then let us know if it’s the home for you.
  4. We then need you to put down a reservation fee.
  5. One of our financial advisors will do some checks and a financial assessment.
  6. Then it’s time to choose a solicitor!
  7. We’ll send an instruction of sale to your solicitor and then the conveyancing process will start. You’ll have 28 days to exchange contracts.
  8. Completion day!

“It’s a really good way of getting on the property ladder – now I fully own my house. It’s a fantastic feeling coming home each day through my very own front door.”
